from the bottom up
Feet are the foundation of our bodies. These relatively small appendages do so much, carrying our weight, grounding us on the Earth and moving us throughout our lives. However, feet are often neglected. Sure, some of us fancy them up with pedicures and fantastic shoes, but what do you actually know about your feet? When you notice a sore spot, puffiness or aching in your feet, it is possible that you have had a long day in bad shoes, however, it could also have a deeper meaning.
In an Anatomy and physiology class, you will learn that each foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints (20 of which actively articulate), and over 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments. In energy work, the feet symbolize grounding and the ability to navigate your journey. In traditional Chinese medicine, the feet are considered a miniature map of the entire body.
In both reflexology and the Foot Zoning technique, the feet are a map of the body with each system represented in different zones and layers. As a foot zone practitioner, I assess the feet, looking for changes in skin color, edema, and the feel of the tissues. Using a gem tool, I apply firm pressure in a prescribed protocol triggering the different systems and functions of the body. A “trigger” can feel crunchy, sharp, or even painful. My job is to notice, work the triggers and help you clear a path for balance and healing to take place. Your job is to breathe, moving into and through the sensations.
So maybe you want to receive a session from me because you aren’t feeling well, maybe we clear unknown blockages, and maybe you are here for a tune-up to keep yourself feeling top shape. Or perhaps, you don’t believe anything I’ve told you and you just want to sit in my chair and get a foot rub. I understand that human touch is essential for both physical and emotional well-being, and deep down you know it too. Whatever the reason you end up in my chair, I believe enough for the both of us, and I will hold the space for you.
